How to Register for Football

All registrations for the Western Iowa Football League (WIFL) are completed online through TeamSnap, a secure and trusted platform used by youth sports organizations across the country.

Whether you're registering for Flag, Flex, or Tackle Football, you'll use TeamSnap to:

  • Select the appropriate league and division (IMPORTANT STEP)
  •  Enter player and parent info
  • Sign all required forms and waivers 
  • Pay your registration fee safely and easily
     

Registration opens May 16 and closes July 4.
Late registration may include additional fees and is not guaranteed.

Coach & Team Registration

 All head coaches must register their teams before any players sign up.
This ensures we have accurate team assignments and can manage divisions properly before the season begins.

🚨 Important Guidelines:

  • Only the Head Coach should complete this form.
     
  • Assistant coaches and support staff will register separately at a later date.
     
  • This form will allow you to: 
    • Select your division (e.g., 2nd Grade Competitive) 
    • Submit your team name 
    • Communication info

 Who it's for:
Players currently in Pre-K or Kindergarten. No players above Kindergarten may register.

What to expect:

  • Non-contact, beginner-friendly format
     
  • Emphasis on fun, teamwork, and movement
     
  • 6-game season (no playoffs)
     

Important Notes:

  • Coaches must register their team before players sign up
  • No players above Kindergarten allowed
  • Practices start in August 
  • Games held on Saturdays in Council Bluffs

2nd Grade – Recreational Division

 

Who it's for:
Players currently in 1st grade or Under.

What to expect:

  • Recreational, non-contact play
     
  • Builds on fundamentals with more structure
     
  • 6-game season (no playoffs)
     

Important Notes:

  • Coaches must register their team before players sign up
  • No players above 1st grade allowed
  • Practices start in August 
  • Games held on Saturdays in Council Bluffs

2nd Grade – Recreational Division

2nd Grade – Recreational Division

 Who it's for:
Players currently in 2nd grade and Under who are newer to football or not ready for competitive play.

What to expect:

  • Focus on skill development and game awareness
     
  • 6 regular season games
     
  • No playoffs
     

Important Notes:

  • Coaches must register their team before players sign up
  • No players above 2nd grade allowed
  • Practices start in August 
  • Games held on Saturdays in Council Bluffs

Competitive Division

2nd Grade – Recreational Division

School/Town Commited for 2025

 Who it's for:
Advanced 2nd graders or Under seeking a higher level of play. No players above 2nd grade permitted.

What to expect:

  • Competitive schedule
     
  • 6 regular season games + playoff tournament in Week 7
     
  • Standings tracked
     

Important Notes:

  • Coaches must register their team before players sign up
  • No players above 2nd grade allowed
  • Practices start in August 
  • Games held on Saturdays in Council Bluffs

 Who it's for:
Players currently in 3rd grade or Under

What to expect:

  • Limited-contact football (helmet and shoulder pads)
     
  • 6-game season + bowl game
     
  • Games played on Saturdays
     

Registration Details:

  • Players register under the town or school they attend
     
  • If a town has multiple teams, coaches will divide rosters after registration
     
  • Equipment may be provided by your town or WIFL

 Who it's for:
Players currently in 4th grade or Under

What to expect:

  • Limited-contact football with growing focus on gameplay and technique

  • Register based on your school or town affiliation
     
  • Coaches will assign players to teams if more than one team exists
     
  • Helmets and shoulder pads are required

  • Coaches will divide players into teams if needed
     
  • Equipment may be provided by your program or WIFL

 Who it's for:
Players currently in 5th or 6th grade who are ready for full-contact football

What to expect:

  • Traditional 11-man tackle football
     
  • 7-game regular season + bowl game
     
  • Games are played on Sundays
     

Registration Details:

  • Register under the school or town you attend
     
  • Coaches will assign teams if more than one team is formed
     
  • Full gear is required — equipment may be provided by your program or WIFL
     

Important:

  • Tackle football is a separate registration from Flex.
     
  • Players may not register for both.

Check-out Schedule

 Tuesday, July 23rd:

- 6:00-7:00 PM – Council Bluffs & St. Albert Flex ONLY

- 7:00-8:00 PM – Missouri Valley

Wednesday, July 24th:

- 6:00-7:00 PM – Treynor

- 7:00-8:00 PM – Riverside

Thursday, July 25th:

- 6:00-7:00 PM – Underwood

- 7:00-8:00 PM – Tri-Center


Checkout Procedure

Upon arrival at equipment check-out, please scan a QR code on your phone, fill out the requested information, and log the color and size of the equipment your player is checking out. Before you leave, show this information to one of the volunteers before submitting. You will receive a helmet, shoulder pads, and pants. Jerseys will be distributed to coaches at a later date, and they will handle the distribution to the team. 

Please bring your athlete with you for sizing.

If you cannot make it on the scheduled date for your town, you will need to coordinate with Brett Dofner to arrange another time for equipment pick-up.
