How to Register for Football

All registrations for the Western Iowa Football League (WIFL) are completed online through TeamSnap, a secure and trusted platform used by youth sports organizations across the country.

Whether you're registering for Flag, Flex, or Tackle Football, you'll use TeamSnap to:

  • Select the appropriate league and division (IMPORTANT STEP)
  •  Enter player and parent info
  • Sign all required forms and waivers 
  • Pay your registration fee safely and easily
     

Registration opens June 19th and closes July 10.
Late registration may include additional fees and is not guaranteed.

2026 Fall Flag Football

 The Western Iowa Football League offers three Flag Football divisions:

  • Pre-K & Kindergarten
  • 1st Grade
  • 2nd Grade

Games are played under NFL FLAG Football rules and are focused on skill development, participation, teamwork, and having fun.

Flex Football

General Information

Flex Football is the perfect bridge between Flag Football and Tackle Football. Players learn the fundamentals of football while wearing helmets and shoulder pads in a limited-contact environment. The focus is on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparing athletes for future tackle football opportunities.

The Western Iowa Football League offers three Flex divisions:

  • 3rd Grade Flex 
  • 4th Grade Flex 
  • 5th/6th Grade Flex 

Games are played on Saturdays and teams will compete in a 6-game regular season followed by bowl games.

2026 Season Schedule

  • Practice Starts August 3rd (Can NOT start prior to)
  • Week 1: August 29 
  • Labor Day Weekend: No Games 
  • Week 2: September 12 
  • Week 3: September 19 
  • Week 4: September 26 
  • Week 5: October 3 
  • Week 6: October 10 
  • Bowl Games: October 17 

Registration Information

Registration opens June 19 and closes July 10.

Parents must register their child in the correct division:

  • 3rd Grade Flex Registration 
  • 4th Grade Flex Registration 
  • 5th/6th Grade Flex Registration 

If you have children participating in multiple divisions, a separate registration must be completed for each player.

Players should register under the town or school they attend. If a community has multiple teams within a division, coaches may divide rosters after registration to create balanced teams.

Equipment Information

Some communities provide equipment through Western Iowa Football League, while others provide equipment independently.

For communities utilizing WIFL equipment, equipment checkout will take place in mid-to-late July. Specific dates, times, and locations will be communicated after registration closes.

Tackle Football

General Information

 Tackle Football is designed for players entering 5th and 6th grade who are ready to experience traditional full-contact football. Athletes will learn proper tackling techniques, blocking fundamentals, offensive and defensive concepts, while continuing to develop teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and confidence on the field.

The Western Iowa Football League offers one combined Tackle Football division for 5th and 6th grade players. Teams compete in a 7-game regular season followed by bowl games at the conclusion of the season.

Regular season games are played on Sundays, with bowl games taking place on Saturday, October 24.

2026 Season Schedule

  • Practice Starts August 3rd (Can NOT start prior to)
  • Game 1: August 30 
  • Labor Day Weekend: No Games 
  • Game 2: September 13 
  • Game 3: September 20 
  • Game 4: September 27 
  • Game 5: October 4 
  • Game 6: October 11 
  • Game 7: October 18 
  • Bowl Games: October 24 

Regular season games are played on Sundays. Bowl games will be played on Saturday, October 24.

Coaches Registration

 Interested in coaching this season? We need your help!

All coaches must complete the WIFL Coach Registration through TeamSnap before the season begins.

What You'll Need to Select

 During registration, coaches will indicate:

  • Program (Flag, Flex, or Tackle)
  • Division/Grade Level
  • Community or Team

Examples:

  • Flag Football – 2nd Grade – Underwood
  • Flex Football – 4th Grade – Riverside
  • Tackle Football – Treyno

Why Register Early?

 The sooner coaches register, the sooner they can be included in:

  • Team formation and roster planning
  • Community team splits
  • Scheduling discussions
  • Equipment checkout information
  • League updates and communications
  • Coach meetings and training opportunities

TeamSnap roster assignments are typically completed a few weeks before practices begin, but registering early helps WIFL and your community prepare for a successful season.
